Hello there, i am the Admin for the Know The Danger website and Forum. I am currently a serving officer and have been working for the prison service for the past 4 and a half years. I have had a few different jobs within the service ranging from catering to contract OSG, nights OSG then finally Officer. Even over my short time working, i have see the Service become less of a career and more of a "place you go just to get money". There is no passion and drive to work anymore, instead its just a constant struggle just to get through the day. I have recently been looking for new jobs as i feel that i can no longer carry on a job that i don't think i have the love for anymore. All my friends and colleagues do an outstanding job and i have respect for each and every one of you and if i do end up leaving soon, i shall still back all your guys and girls 110% and show my support in any way i can!

Hi all, I am an officer and have been for 22 years (I don't however consider myself a dinosaur) I started in dispersal in the Midlands and now work at Northern local. The changes I have seen these last few years astound me, I do believe that some of our managers care, I just think they are powerless to do anything about the dangers we face, this government is intent on destroying Hmp and as such it is up to us all to do something about it, I just worry now that we have missed the boat in that respect time will tell. I would like to pay massive respect to Know the danger for all they are doing to highlight our plight, stay strong colleagues and look after each other.

Hello folks, I am in my 25th year as a humble Officer in the High Security Estate in what was a great service, sadly I have watched over the last few years as it has all fell apart, Mark I would like to agree with you about managers that care but I'm afraid since F&S came in it appears to be everyone for themselves, if anything it has produced a cut throat service were people are desperate to climb the ladder of promotion! In my humble opinion that is, I fear it's up to the white shirts to look after each others backs now more than ever, as long as we get through the week without ANYONE being injured it's a blessing these days. I also consider myself a dying breed, dinosaur, as the way it's all going no-one will ever get into double figures for service.
